The FEMA Building Science Branch focuses on conducting post-disaster engineering investigations and providing technical services to foster disaster-resilient communities. They develop state-of-the-art publications, guidance materials, tools, and training relating to earthquake, wind, flood, and other natural and man-made hazards, incorporating the most current building codes, flood damage resistant requirements, seismic design guidelines, and wind design requirements. The branch also supports and promotes building codes that help structures resist natural hazards, reducing the impact of disasters on communities.
