The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency has completed a Programmatic Environmental Assessment (PEA) for dam safety actions in FEMA Region 4. This assessment complies with various environmental and preservation acts and executive orders, and it evaluates the impacts of dam safety actions such as repair, rehabilitation, replacement, reconstruction, or removal of dams. The PEA aims to reduce the risk of dam breaches or failures, thereby minimizing risks to life, structures, and infrastructure.
